Almanca Dilbilgisi I

Who would have thought that someone as intelligent and smart as I would struggle when it comes to understanding the grammer of his own mother tongue German? It's rather emberassing when I get asked some question about German by a Turk everyday and can only reply with: "eeeeeehhmm weeeelll....". But honestly, its not my fault! Who in god's name invented this language? Why the hell did he make it so complicated, irregular and hard to understand? If Im struggling with this, how the hell are foreigners coping with it?
On monday I will have an exam on "German grammar 1" and its not looking good for me. Kausal Adverb? Plusquamperfekt? No thanks mate, Ill rather get another Lager in!

Büyük derbi

It was time for the big one. If there was one thing I had to do here it was to go to this match. My team FENERBAHCE was hosting their most hated (rightly so) rival Galatasaray and it was my duty to do get a ticket no matter what. So after hours of roaming the streats of Kadiköy, Hilmi adviced me to ask someone at a kiosk or restaurant, they would shourely know who is selling. How right he was! The first Dönerci was very happy to escort me to someone who had too many tickets. After some haggling I was the proud owner of my very own golden ticket. The happiness I felt as I walked into the ground can not be described in words. Maybe by someone who is more talented than me but I just cant. Lets just say it was f*****g awsome!

The football itself was everything but amazing and the final score (0:0) pretty much reflected the game. I was a bit dissapointed because their was just not enough hate and fanatism in the air. I expected thousands of flairs going off and constant taunting.......this I could only see before the game when a Galatasaray fan who was holding his face in agony was escorted out of the ground by police. Of course, he had to be walked past all the Fenerbahce fans, who clearly didnt mind throwing whatever they could find at him. The Gala fan didnt loose his spirit though, and happily flipped us off, shouting abuse as he was hit by several more objects... :)

Sonunda süper evim buldum!

Finally. Its done. I feel at home in Istanbul!
Not that I wasnt happy before but its just not the same if you are living with a psycho b**** and her 3 cats from hell. So after some arguments on the phone in which I was racially abused for the first time in my live (not counting my years in England :P) I decided its time to move on and I found the perfect flat. Now I live in a cosy place near the centre together with one Turk (Hilmi) and one Australian (Alex) and they are just great. Attached is a pic of my beautiful room with its king sized bed, big windows and a mosque right around the corner! Luckily this seems to be the only one without a 5.30 morning prayer and so I sleep like the angel that I am.
